Is Cisco Systems a great investment this month (Feb & Mar 2010)?
Filed Under Financial News | 1 Comment
I’ve been following world financial news very closely for the past several months and was wondering if Cisco Systems (CSCO) is one of the solid stocks to buy right now, considering their recent outbreak. It seems like they’ll be at the forefront of the approaching economic surge coming out of the recession. Thoughts?

Case over about 6 months ago. No news and not received final bill from solicitor. What does it mean?
Filed Under Financial News | 1 Comment
Case was over about 6 months ago but have not heard or receive final bill from solicitor - it should be around 2000-300 pounds i think. What does it mean? I have made payment throughout the case and I think still have a final settlement to make. I have not contacted solicitor either. All I can think is:
a. Not sending a final bill (I won the case but they have “Screwed-up” along the way - taking longer handling the case than it should have - longer time=more money paid - and they know that I am very upset with them)
b. Waiting till the end of their financial year?
c. Too busy?
If it is (a) Does this mean the case is closed? Will they or can they still send us a bill say after 1 year? If they do, will they charge interests on it?
If it is (b) I dont understand why
If it is (c) I shouldnt think they’re too busy (especial these solicitors about
Should I ring the solicitor? I am not keen as I am quite happy with the money sitting in the bank and collecting interest. ![]()
Can anyone adv

Are the financial news channels (especially CNBC and Bloomberg) lying about the economy?
Filed Under Financial News | 2 Comments
I watch financial news channels all day long. All you hear about is a recovery. But it seems as if the only folks recovering are the rich. It seems as if those who have money to invest and those who were bailed out by the government are the ones making money. They’re taking that bailout money and investing it or hoarding it. They are not lending it out. And then you have these analysts on there who are interviewed. They get the most bullish folks possible. But for the life of me, I cannot find any positive economic signs. Sure, corporate profits are up. But that is the result of layoffs and measures to squeeze even more production out of their existing employees. And the inventory levels for manufacturing companies aren’t a positive sign either. And the biggest economic indicators of all are simply dismal- the job market, the housing market, and consumer spending. Even the Fed (usually the biggest bulls of all) is hesitant to say anything about a recovery. They actually say things will be flat or worse than flat in the coming months. So are these financial news channels lying about the economy to boost (false) confidence in the market? And if so, what motive would they have to do such a thing?

What was the U.S. economy like in the 1970s? I was just starting out at a job that lasted 30 years?

and, at that time, did not keep up with financial news. Just went to work every day and got up the next morning and did it all over again.

Why do the financial markets rise sharply on the news of government bailouts?
Filed Under Financial News | 1 Comment
We’ve seen this a few times over the past few years. This happened once again today. Except this time it was Greece. You would think the market would fall sharply because in the overall long term view, the markets are actually weakened by heavy government intervention. At least a libertarian would view it this way.
