This city sent a blind woman, aged 74, a letter that she owed a balance on her water bill and that if she didn’t pay, they’d put a lien on her home.

The outstanding balance was one cent. $.01. that’s right, a penny!!

So they spent

$.42 on the stamp
$.05 on the paper and envelop
??? on the salary and benefits for the person who generated the letter and put it in the mail

For a one-penny outstanding balance. No wonder towns are in financial trouble!
