PO’d asked:

If they are in the US illegally why should they get tax money to go to college?

Has this country really turned this far into bizarro world?

The reality of having welfare illegals or productive taxpaying ones is no brainer.

That’s a Texas issue if its state’s money.

I don’t live in Texas, so I don’t have a dog in this fight.

If you read the article the student must have attended a Texas high school for three years and they must sign an affidavit pledging to seek permanent residency.

What is wrong with encouraging people with enough sense to attend college to stay in Texas? We need educated workers. Plus, because of the 3-year rule prior to high school graduation, it is obvious this rule applies only to minors. Minors who, more than likely, came to this country with their parents. It is not the child’s fault they are in Texas illegally. Plus, a higher educated immigrant is more likely to assimilate into the greater society.
