BREAKING NEWS: McCain is suspending campaigning to return to DC to help with financial crisis legislation?
Filed Under Financial News | 6 Comments
I must say, I’m not a huge fan of McCain (though I plan to vote for him as the lesser of two evils). However, this makes me think that this guy has what it takes to serve us with dedication and to do what is right.
His term as senator of AZ is still on-going and thus he is returning to complete the job he was elected to do. He’s going to help facilitate legislation to get through congress and the senate so that we can start with some type of recovery plan.
Yesterday the same question was posed to Obama, who said he will only return if an “important decision” was being made. Um, financial crisis not high on your list sir? Or maybe you don’t want everyone to know you don’t have a clue how to contribute to creating legislation since you’ve drafted zero pieces thus far in your career.
He has also requested that the debate be delayed so that they can dedicate their time to the Senate and financial crisis legislation.
I’m very proud of McCain for standing up, putting his campaign on the line, all for the good of the people. He deserves to be elected for that, if nothing else.

Why is Obama leading a rally in NC while McCain is in DC working on the financial problem?
Filed Under Financial News | 21 Comments
How can this guy Obama say he’s more “in touch” with people, when he’s not even in DC doing the job the people are paying him to do?
That’s where McCain is.

Economic news has been awful (housing, banks) yet the Dow is doing just fine. What gives?
Filed Under Financial News | 5 Comments
Those are two red flag type of sectors (housing and financial). As soon as the banks start to fail, watch out! How in the heck can the Dow have a good past couple of weeks and almost a 300 point rise today despite this news? This is amazing. Yeah yeah, I know the Dow dropped yesterday, but it really is doing quite well despite the bad bad news.

Did you hear about the man in CA who killed himself and his family because of financial problems?
Filed Under Financial News | 7 Comments
Someone on the news said “He should’ve sought out help instead of making that choice”. Well my question is: What kind of help could he have gotten if he was having financial problems???
I’m not saying that what he did wasn’t insane, but really, what kind of “help” can a person who is having financial problems get if they see suicide as the only way out of their problems?
And if you’re going to say “He should’ve gotten counseling”, where would he have gotten the money to pay for counseling if he was having financial problems???
Leah, no he wasn’t a billionaire. This guy was a black guy who lived in a subdivision with his wife and several kids.

I’m on vacation with my family and my father needs to use the internet for financial news. However, I’m leaving today and he will need to use it for the rest of the week. I don’t want him or anyone else in my family to use snoop around on my computer. I need some way to lock everything except access to safari.

Should the news media be in the Time top 25 people to blame for the financial crisis?
Filed Under Financial News | 4 Comments
I reading the Time story on the top 25 people to blame. I agree with most including the consumers. I think there is another that was mysteriously omited….. the news media.
They covered everything this year like they would a snow storm. While it didn’t start the ball rolling, I think it seriously fueled its escalation in the minds of the people. I has had a serious impact on consumer spending. I remember seeing clips of old newscasts in the first era of the news where they would offer words of encouragement at the end if possible. Why don’t they do this now?
I guess it is because they say good stories or reports don’t sell. Well nothing sells now.

Filed Under Financial News | 9 Comments
With all this news in the air. why is only one option being publicized? no details or explanation on how the economy got to this point? How will we prevent this from happening again by approving this “Billion dollar bail out”??? How will the bailout help the economy? Any opinion is welcome no discrimination against anybody. I have a degree in journalism but have never worked in the field. From my vantage point (in the financial industry), the biggest problem in journalism is basically laziness - which prompts reporters to repeatedly quote the same readily-accessible, publicity-hungry sources over and over again. You see this especially in financial news where every story needs to feature a couple banal, obvious quotes from analysts and bankers - usually the most accommodating person the reporter could find, not the most qualified or accurate. Why don’t newspapers have strict rules on who gets quoted and limit the frequency? And why don’t they ever go back and examine the accuracy of these sources that they quote habitually?

I need help to getting my daughter, does anyone know anyway to get on a talk show or the news?
Filed Under Financial News | 5 Comments
I met Jennifer Issermoyer around the end of May. We now have a beautiful baby girl, Lydia Nicole Issermoyer, born April 23, 2006. I attended a court date October 17, 2006. There was question of my paternity to Lydia at the time. I was court ordered to complete paternity testing and visit with Lydia at the Children and Youth office. I complied with this. At the next court date on January 23, 2007, issues of my disability came up. I was not fairly evaluated. I have been attending ot/pt therapy then but it is not oriented around child care; nor did they know of any resources. PLEASE HELP!! Jennifer and I are fighting tooth & nail for our daughter. Jennifer’s mother has now filed for custody for our daughter in private court with intentions to cut us out from our daughter, Lydia’s life. Being that it’s a private court matter, we are not receiving legal representation because we cannot afford it. I feel strongly discriminated against because of my disability and financial status. I thank you for taking the time to read this. I have been searching high and low for help. I hope with all of my heart that you can fight with us. My daughter is worth every last ounce of our strength. She needs us & we need her.
My name is Sean Killoran I am a father with an incomplete spinal cord injury. I was shot October 9, 2003. The bullet went through my throat and into my c1 c2 vertebrae. The bullet remains there to date and it cannot be removed due to the fact it may cause more injury. The person who did it was there when the police showed up and told them the gunshot was self inflicted. This was never proved or disproved, even though there were no finger prints on the gun. I was admitted to St. Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on 10/09/03. I don’t remember much from this time but according to my mother, the Dr. said I wouldn’t get off a ventilater or walk again. Now I find myself in that situation again. I was sent to the Good Shepherd long-term care from the Good Shepherd Rehabiltation Hospital in Febuary of ‘04. On April 1, 2005, I was discharged from Good Shepherd long-term care to a second floor apartment walking and ready to take care of myself with some help from a home health aide who
